Meccano Ltd. Brochures and Leaflets

Meccano American Literature

Meccano Ltd imported Meccano into the United States of America from an early date. This was initially via the Embossing Company of Albany. The Meccano Company of America Inc. was then formed in 1913 with offices in New York. In around 1922 they established a factory in Elizabeth, New Jersey. However in around 1929/30 the American operation was taken over by Gilbert who owned Erector - a competitor. However by the late 1930s, Meccano, Liverpool was importing its toys into America once more. Henry Hudson Dodson appears to have been the main player in the American operation. See http://www.maronline.org.uk/dinky-toys-and-h-hudson-dobson-1891-1975-part-i/.

Included in this page is all the literature (except for manuals) issued by Meccano, America, whilst controlled from Meccano, Liverpool. For construction sets produced by Gilbert under the Meccano label in the 1930s see Meccano-Gilbert, Meccano-Morecraft and Meccano-Brik in the "OTHER SYSTEMS" section of this website.
